0:00 Hello, Next Level employees! My name is Coach Bradley, and welcome to Module 1 of our referee training. Today, we’ll introduce you to Next Level Sports and discuss the important role you play as a referee.

0:11 Let’s start with our mission statement: At Next Level, our goal is to provide the best youth sports experience for all participants, coaches, referees, and anyone who steps onto the field on any given weekend.

0:26 We want to emphasize that just by being out there as a referee, you’re already making a significant impact.

0:32 You’re making a difference for your school, engaging with anywhere from 100 to 800 people in your community every Saturday or Sunday. You’re helping create an environment where athletes can compete and have a great experience.

0:45 You’re also shaping the next generation of student-athletes. Think back to when you were five or six years old, an aspiring athlete with dreams of playing football, basketball, or baseball. As a referee, you’re providing those young athletes with a positive experience on the field, and showing them what it’s like to be a student-athlete in their community.

1:06 And finally, you’re making a difference for yourself. Being a referee comes with responsibility: you must know the rules, stay focused, and perform at your best.

1:13 A poor referee can ruin the experience for players, no matter what level of play — from youth sports to high school, college, or even the NFL. So take pride in your role, know the rules, do your best, and engage positively with everyone on the field.
